Quick Start Guide
Welcome to HandyMote! This guide will help you get set up in minutes, allowing you to control your computer remotely from your phone. HandyMote uses advanced web technology, so there's no need to download any app on your phone—just scan and go.
🛠️ Prerequisites
Before we start, please ensure you have the following:
- Computer: A desktop or laptop running Windows 10/11 or macOS 11+.
- Phone: Any smartphone (iOS or Android) with a modern web browser (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Edge).
- Wi-Fi Network: Both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Tip: Use a 5GHz Wi-Fi network for lower latency and smoother performance.
Step 1: Download & Install Desktop App
HandyMote requires a lightweight desktop application running on your computer to receive commands from your phone.
- Visit our Download Page.
- Choose the version for your operating system:
- Windows: Download the
.exeinstaller and run it. If you see a Windows Defender prompt, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". - macOS: Download the
.dmgfile, open it, and drag the HandyMote icon into yourApplicationsfolder.

Step 2: Launch & Connect
- Open the HandyMote application on your computer.
- Important: On the first run, Windows Firewall may ask for permission. Please make sure to check both "Private networks" and "Public networks", then click "Allow access". This is required for your phone to find your computer on the local network.
- Once the app is running, you will see a QR Code on the main screen.
- Take your phone and open the Camera app or a QR Code scanner.
- Scan the QR code on your computer screen.
- Tap the link that appears to open the web controller in your phone's browser.
Step 3: Start Controlling
You should now see the control interface on your phone!

- Move: Slide your finger on the empty area to move the mouse cursor.
- Click: Tap with one finger for Left Click, tap with two fingers for Right Click.
- Scroll: Slide up/down with two fingers to scroll pages.

- Works seamlessly with YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, VLC, and more.
- Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Volume Control, and Mute.
- ⌨️ Remote Keyboard
- Tap the keyboard icon to type on your computer using your phone's keyboard. Supports emojis and long text input.

- Quickly launch apps or perform system commands like Lock Screen or Screenshot.
Troubleshooting
Q: I scanned the code but the page won't load? A: This is usually a network issue.
- Ensure both devices are on the exact same Wi-Fi network.
- Check your computer's firewall settings to ensure HandyMote is allowed.
- Try manually typing the IP address link shown below the QR code.
